Savage Summer Concerts

This summer is going to be jam-packed full of concerts. Here is a few we have attended recently or will be attending in the near future. We’ve blogged about some of these guys before, so if you haven’t checked them out yet, get on that.

My Morning Jacket
MMJ never fails to disappoint. Yim Yames and co are probably some of the best live performance artists around and all their songs sound equally as good when they are played on a stereo at home. They busted out a few new jams that you can listen to over at YOU AINT NO PICASSO.  The new stuff sounds great, the older songs were just as good and of course they threw a couple of covers in the mix that rounded the show off nicely.

Toro y Moi
Caught him last night with Caribou. Slap it on the surround sound and float in the pool and life is complete. The perfect summer soundtrack for those chill days on the beach.

Futurebirds
I’m catching these guys on Wednesday with Jessica Lea Mayfield and I can’t wait. I was at many of their Athens, GA concerts last year and they sure do know how to put on a show. They’ve got a new album coming out in July (you can download the mp3 for one of their new songs here) and a North American tour on tap for the summer, so check them out if they are coming to a town near you. You won’t regret it.

Sleigh Bells
These guys have slowly been on the rise all year and have a record that came out today via M.I.A.’s NEET Recording and Mom + Pop records. You can listen to the entire album streamed live on NPR  and decide for yourself how savage you think they are. I think their performance with MIA this summer at NYC’s Hardfest will be off the chain.
